Gum. i do rember having to do somthing along these lines in school and the trick was in weaving the paper to support the next piece like in out in out then folding up into a square and folding the edges been a while tho may want to look it up some more :)

Cut it into strips and weave it back together, like the old basket weavers did with straw and grass.

Cut all the strips, weave it together as you would a placemat or pot holder. Do this 5 times then weave together the bottom, then weave together the sides. You can also weave a edge around the top.

Instead of glue for the handle, tear a small slit, and bend and twist the handle on it, if you need one.
