In a weird way I would have to say that yes my parents did influence the way I voted when I became of legal age to vote.
My Mother was a staunch Republican and I just did not agree with her views, so when I became a registered voter (at age 18) I registered as a Democrat.
The older I became the more I realized on my own that it really wasn't about belonging to one party or another that influenced my votes, but instead what the Canidate was standing for.

My parents help to establish my core values that I use when I step into the voting booth. However, I do not get influenced if they say they are voting for canidate A.

No way!! They are republicans and I am neither! I voted opposite of them last time(not becasue I truley though Kerry was the right answer, but I could not with peace of mind say I helped with all the issues we have today)anyway they gave me so much grief!! Now they are always telling me wow how you were right about Bush. He is as bad as you said it would be.... Gotta have your own mind!! Thats what makes this country what its suppose to be!!

If anyone told you no they are lying. Everyone starts voting the same as their parents then as they grow older and getting exposed to the world they start formulating their on political ideals. College is usually one of the bigest influences on the way people view the worlds problems.

of course, i vote exactly as they do - for the same reason that i am the same religion as they are. i may change later in life, depends on the candidate, but that may mean placing more trust in a thirty second commercial than in the people that struggled throughout a lifetime to make me what i am today.

Nope. Mom was a Republican and dad was a liberal Democrat. They got along great, talked politics at the dinner table but never had a cross word about it.
I miss them so much.

My Mom is, and has always been, an avid follower of all things political. So, yes, I do consult her when it comes time to vote.
