The ski is blue because when Nitrogen and Oxygen molocues combine form blue when the sun light hits the gasses. Thats why all the color of chemicals form different colors and the intensity of the sunlight. And did you know that rainbow is formed by energy, and blue from the rainbow of energy is the dominent color. Thers nothing more to it

Light coming from the sun is what's called "white light" White light contains all the colors of the rainbow. When it enters Earth's atmosphere this light is separated into its individual colors by chemical elements in the atmosphere and scattered across the sky. Nitrogen is the most abundant element in our atmosphere, and that element scatters the color blue across our sky more than the other colors. In space, there is no atmosphere to separate colors from the white light and space looks black.

Rayleigh scattering. Blue light is scattered more than red light, so the yellow/red light from the sun goes straight to your eyes and blue light (scattered by water in the atmosphere) goes everywhere.

Ditto Erin. Blue light waves are last to reach the eye and most easily diffused. At dusk, yellow, orange ( & even violet) have even farther to travel and are intercepted by the dust particles, scattering their waves like spaching water in brook.
