My favorite DC hero is Guy Gardner, the green lantern. He has had both the green lantern ring and the yellow power ring which he stole from sinestro and his own inherent alien powers. Not to mention he is one of the highest ranking guardians. He has a deep and tragic history. All around he is an awesome hero.
And Brainiac would have to be my favorite villain he is one of the smartest villains around, he can posses other people and machines and can control time and space to a limited extent.

Martian Manhunter- He's interesting to me because his concerns are so human (How can I fit in? How do I deal with feeling so alone?) but he feels so isolated from humanity. He could basically be Superman/Clark Kent/Kal-El (An EXTREMELY powerful alien who could appear to be human and who works for the good of humanity), but his outlook on life is different from Superman's, leading to a very different kind of character. In fact, his combination of powers might make him more powerful than Supes, except that he's a more vulnerable personality, which makes him far more interesting than Superman is as a character.
Lex Luthor- The fact that some measly human has given Superman so much trouble over the years makes me love Lex Luthor. You never know what to expect from him, which leads to very interesting stories.
