I have four cats; two of them are long haired. Nothing I have tried thus far gets rid of the fur on everything. I have tried vacuuming, which doesn't work on drapes, washing in washing machine, which doesn't get rid of all the fur, and tape, which is too time consuming and not feasable to use over the entire house. Any new ideas or tricks you know of?

I brush my long haired cats everyday and my short haired ones when they are shedding.

Have you tried a lint roller?

You could buy a pet hair removing lint brush. I love my long hair cat and my short hair, but I've found that i pick up a lot less hair after having them both lion cut. It may cost more than a lint brush, but it'll save you time in cleaning up all that loose hair!!

For carpets, you need a very good vacuum cleaner. Most vacuums don't work well unless it is completely empty when you start. Sometimes a wet broom may work a little better, though. Try a wet cloth for clothes.

Lint rollers or a damp cloth.
Do you brush once or twice a week?
I use to have long hair black cat. As a baby I began vacuuming him and he let me vacuum him while brushing every week. He loved it.

The best way is to use your home floor steam cleaning machine. It wets the hair and vacs it up. The room feels fresher and it helps for allergies.

In my humble opinion:
You could dampen a cloth slightly and try rubbing over the cat hair fabrics, remembering to check if your fabric instructions first.

You should try to groom your cats on a regular basis to keep the fur to a minimum.
