how i protect my pc any hdd lock password protection?

is there any software by which i protect my notebook data and partition access by any unauthoried persons

Go to Control Panel (un der Start) and User Accounts. There you can set a password for yourself and create an account for anyone else you want to be able to use your computer. However, do not forget your password. There's a big mess if you do.

Usually if you go into the BIOS set up of your laptop there is a way to set a power on password. It prevents the computer from booting the PC from the hard drive, a floppy, a CD etc. without the password.
