a is wrong b/c that's the function of another section I can't remember right now ;\
b is deceptive, but wrong b/c shock and trauma isn't its only usage.
c is the best answer b/c resilience AND flexibility make it better than b
d isn't really relevant seeing as the vertebral curves are taught as the encasement for the spinal chord
