How do you write a screen play?

i write short stories and wanted to branch out...alright its to enter this 8 films to die for screenwriter contest and wanted to know how to write it, i really dont understand it even after looking at them. any help would be great thanks. like how to format it and everyhing i've got the ideas and all that characters and stuff down just need HOW to write it

get a copy of the screenwriter bible. Written by Trottier, I believe. The book has EVERYTHING you will need!
