i live in a condo in a city and the breeze always brings in some dust. also, my hair seems to be falling out! anyway, i'm looking for a product that's like swiffer; something that can pick up dust really well. (note: i'd like to do a quick sweep of my floors every day and if i kept buying those swiffer cloths, i'd go broke in no time!) so if you know of a product that really works, please do tell. thanks!

What I did was buy a Swiffer, then instead of buying their refills, buy some microfiber cloths. You might find these in the automotive section, or in the cleaning section - you might want to check both to get the best price. Just attach the cloth like you do the throw-away kind, and then when it's dirty, you can shake it out a bit or rub it against itself to get some of the dust off, then throw it in the washer. Don't use fabric softener on the cloths though, it keeps them from picking up the dust. The microfiber cloths are great for dusting too.

You have two choices.

You can either buy a dust mop which works well for large areas but can be hard to use in a small area because of the size.

Or you can purcase a swiffer type thing and when you run out of the cloths use your USED dryer sheets. Attach one the same way you would a replacement cloth - when you are done just toss it. They also work great for dusting and can be used on any surface.

Good Luck and happy cleaning!!!

I don't have a Swiffer, I have a Grab-it which is pretty much the same thing. Instead of buying the grab-it cloths, I attach an old thin washcloth to it & that works pretty well, wet or dry.
