to your church. If so, why? Jesus preached for free. You realize you are giving away your hard earned cash to cushion some guy's pocket.

I always felt uncomfortable when I was little and my dad put a check in there. I thought he was being overly generous. The church is supposed to serve for free..in my book. But I think the money went to some place to help kids in Africa or something..so I guess that was okay. But yeah...I don't know how else a minister/pastor would make any kind of living...

The church needs uptake like anything else, a new roof, cleaning , whatever. Money will not fall out of the sky, it needs to come from somewhere. Give the contribution if you feel like it, if you dont, dont worry, it will be made up by someone else. However, if you appreciate it's service (the church gives to you) then it might fill a warm spot in your heart if you thank them with a bit of change. You dont have to sing over your pay check or anything, just a little something to say thanks and it will help them be there for you when you need them.

Tithing is a touchy subject for many people. I don't think you should be required to give money. Some people do, some don't.
Personally, I don't tithe financially. I volunteer a lot of my time and talents to my church and that is my form of giving back.
