How does William Shakespeare affect the modern world?

In the middle of writing an essay, and would enjoy seeing other viewpoints.

I would say he has given us the format to all the stories that have come after his, many of the books and movies of today are re-telling his stories, Underworld, The Magical Legend of The Leprechauns, and many others are Romeo and Juliet stories.

I would think mainly his approach to Love and finding it....but then again I'm just a big old softie lol ...I don't know we never did Shakespeare at my school.
