They are saying the cars are getting better mpg than before, which is a good thing. How much is this going to come into play during the season?

For race fans watching at home, you probably won't notice any difference. An extra lap or two here or there won't change much. The drivers can still control how much fuel they are burning at any given time.

ON a 1 mile track mileage should increase to about 2 extra laps than before which means 1 less pit stop or a short gas and go stop. and i know this ain't nascar

Ethanol is used in larger quantities than gasoline, because it burns cooler that pump racing gas. Also for Big John NASCAR switched to unleaded gas not regular gas. The lead in the gas was used to lubricate the valves this bigger problems from the start.

NASCAR did not go to ethanol, they switched to Regular Gas from they higher octane.
