Port Orleans Riverside is beautiful. You will be so glad that you switched hotels. I've stayed at both All Star Movies and Riverside and there is a huge difference, in my opinion. ASM has only a food court, while POR has a food court and a sit down restaurant. The theming at ASM is great if you have young children, while POR has more of an adult feel to it. Still kid-friendly, yet adults without kids can stay there and it has a romantic southern feel to it. If you are using Disney transportation, the buses at the All Star resorts can be very slow, as the buses make the same route for all 3 All Star resorts and the lines can be extremely long to wait for buses. The buses for Port Orleans stops at both Riverside and French Quarter, which also can mean having to wait, but its not nearly as bad. POR also has a boat that travels to French Quarter and Downtown Disney, which we really enjoy. Also, POR has horse drawn carriage rides, bike rentals, and a fishing hole.
I personally enjoy POR much, much more and believe that it is worth a little bit of extra money. That being said, if you are intending to spend all day every day at the parks, I would probably stick with All Star Movies. Just my opinion, but POR is my favorite resort and it will difficult for my husband and I to go back to Disney and stay anywhere else. We found it to be very romantic and beautiful. I like it more than some of the Deluxe hotels. I think that you will be pleased with your decision. Check out www.allearsnet.com to check out pictures of all of the resorts and the rooms. It helps to know what to expect.

Stayed at Port Orleans Riverside a couple of years in the past with a 14-eight-and three 12 months historic. We cherished it. Stayed within the Alligator Bayou segment. They have a trundle mattress within the room as one other mattress. The three 12 months cherished having his possess mattress. :) POR is a enormous estate however it is very serene. Plenty of swimming pools -quiet swimming pools and the most important themed pool. We under no circumstances had disorders with the bus transportation. We had been on the 2d bus give up at the homes direction. Never waited to any extent further than 10 minutes max for bus and that i consider that was once handiest due to the fact that we had been going to Typhoon Lagoon that day. This was once no longer my first option of disney lodges - handiest ended up staying there due to the fact that of the trundle mattress. But i used to be particularly joyful and might keep at that situation once more. The longest trip was once out to Animal Kingdom however each different park was once lovely rapid when we obtained by way of the stops. Same with coming again to the motel. Plus i just like the "river" that runs by way of the motel. You can take the boat directly to downtown disney! It's approximately a ten-15 min trip however it is so first-class and stress-free. The Mansions that you're regarding is the Mansion part of POR. The river splits up the perimeters. Alligator Bayou is undoubtedly the swamp themed subject and the mansions are the extra of the long past with the wind themed constructions. You would not pass incorrect with staying at POR it is a best situation.

Great choice of upgrades! You'll be happy at "Riverside" because there is a ton to do just at the resort and my favorite thing about the Port Orleans Riverside is that no matter how busy parks and things are, there is a certain calming that comes to you when you visit-the landscapes are beautifully taken care of, the staff there is great and even their restaurant is terrific! You'll be glad you chose it!

I just stayed at Riverside in August. We loved it. The pool is great. We did get lost on one of our walks though. It's a big place. You really feel like you are at a themed resort at Riverside. And, you can take the riverboat to downtown disney. it definitely beats taking the bus. You have made a wise decision.

Riverside is amazing, way better then the all stars hotel. They have alot of slides in their pool, its like having your own private water park in the back yard of your hotel. Also at night during the month of March and beginning of April they will have Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day parties. Enjoy Port Orleans because it is not a hotel it is a REsort, a nice one at that.
