I have a hard time finding things to say to people. My friends can start a conversation with pretty much anyone, but I have a hard time with it. It's not like I don't want to talk to people, I'm just shy. So what are some things I can say to people (who know who I am) and I'll be comfortable with the subject, and the people I'm talking to won't think I'm a freak? Please help!

Well I'm kinda shy too..(sometimes). And the best way to make small talk is like asking them how there day was or how there day is going..this will get the people talking and then you can get them to say more by listening and asking questions.
Other topics I break the ice with are as follows ...music,movies, who there favorite actors are, if they have a myspace account, what they like to do for fun. All good ways to get to know someone.

haha. I have the smae problem, I just try to think of something I talked about with the person before, a joke that person and I share from a class, or if all else fails, compliments are always good. The only problem with my method, is if they don't remember your conversation is dead. On the other hand, if you have some BIG inside joke, people normal start laughing, and conversation comes easy.
Remember, you need to talk, or else people will think your rude. (I found that out the hard way) Its not an option.

Where were you born, do you miss it?
Whats your favorite subject in school?
What did you always want to be when you grew up?
Do you have brothers and sisters? Do you get to see them often?
Do you have any pets? What kinds of fun things are there to do around here where you can bring them with you?
Where's a great place to get trendy clothing? Shoes?
I love your hair, who cuts it?
What kind of sports are you into? Do you play them as well?
Did you see the latest movie (insert title here)?
Where do you like to hang out?
Great eyeshadow, what kind do you like (clinique, lancome, urban decay,etc)?
What do you think of the Anna Nicole thing (any late breaking news lines you can think of really can go here)?
Etc, etc
