It depends on which Ipod. If it's thie video, then sure! I know it's a small screen but my friend Hannah has one and I've watched vids before and the screen looks great! Music vids are great and so are shows and downloaded stuff. Some stuff that is bad resolution on the computer though isnt much better on the ipod. I personally have an Ipod nano 1st generation. It's perfect for me because i'm not a music FANATIC, but i do listen to music alot. I use it running sometimes and it's held up pretty well. THe only bad thing about the nanos 1st gen. is that they get scratched easily. THere is an easy fix to that though, just buy a case witha creen protector and you're fine. 2nd gen. nanos though i'm not sure about. They're supposed to be really good but i know of 3 pple who have them that are having trouble w/ them. Shuffles:BLEH! Who wants to pay like $70 for something that plays music randomly and you can't even choose what song comes next? Cra-z! I'd go with a video or nano 1st gen.

It depends on what you really need in terms of music storage and the space it takes up. If you only listen to one CD once in a while your disk man should be just fine. If you listen to a few in rotation each week a small storage size player will work.

I got a deal on eBay for a creative zen player that is 30g. I dont use the video much except for storing video and pictures when I am traveling from my digital camera. I listen to a lot of live DJ sets that are 2-6 hours in length, some longer so a player is a great idea for me.

The re chargeable batteries that last a long time are a huge plus over regular batteries and old CD or cassette players with moving parts. The digital players last a long time, my battery lasted 2 flights across the US, about 6 hours each way along with random uses for a week without a charge or ever having to turn over a tape or change a CD.

Just plan on having to get new headphones other than the ones that come with it, they all have much room for improvement.

If you want the screen to last keep it in a protective bag or case.

It takes a long time to get your playlist set up the way you want it and to be able to find songs quickly, especially if you are using downloaded songs or whole downloaded CDs or sets. The file names often begin with unknown or the genre is completely different than the auto label.

Transfer speeds are quick for songs already on your computer. Those that are on CD first have to be ripped then transfered which can take a while.

It all depends on how much you like music. Personally, I love my ipod and I'm so glad I have it. I can hook it up to both stereos in my cars as well as my laptop so I can have 90gb of music to listen to if i so choose. Which is a rediculous amount, but it is a real good variety. The videos I see people say are overrated, but I can compress my videos to that of 3 songs. About 15,000kb. Each song is about 5,000kb or 5mb. And the video still looks great. You can also put pictures on the ipod video if you didn't know and can create all kinds of playlists. Thru itunes you can rate your songs, so if you want to only hear your favorite songs you can go that route too. I'm very happy with mine and I'm very cheap, and I spent the money for one. With the right headphones your music sounds great too.

i used to think they were before my boyfriend got me one this past christmas. i mean, i don't walk around listening to music, you know? (i live in the middle of chicago, where it's a lot safer to actually hear what's going on around you). but i do take a lot of road trips, so i plug the ipod into my car stereo for commercial-free music that i'm guaranteed to like! also, i'm a sudoku ADDICT, so i have that downloaded onto my ipod - i love it!
