As great as he was he was also the most hated by far. Ty Cobb. He once stomped a heckler with no arms almost to death. The man was psychotic.

T.O., Kobe, OJ? Amateurs compared to Mike Tyson. Not only did he receive linguistic lessons from Michael Jackson, he BIT A MAN'S EAR!!! Talk a bunch of trash, play for a hated team, domestic violence? All child's play in the grand scheme of things. How low can you go to bite a man? Isn't that what animals and little children do? I guess while we're at it, #2 on the list should be Woody Hayes for hitting that Clemson player, #3 should be Albert Haynesworth of the Tennesse Titans for stepping on that player's head last year, #4 should be Pete Rose for ending Ray Fosse's career in an All-star game (he also bet on baseball, if memory serves me right...), and #5 should be Delmon Young for throwing his bat at the umpire last year-though that was the funniest thing I've ever seen...

I feel that Barry Bonds setting baseball back about 5 years is enough to make him the most hated athlete of all time. Look this guy is going to break a sacred homerun record that should have never been his, because he decided to cheat by using steroids. He hasn't retired even though he should. He can barely play left field. Albeit he has done this because in some sick and twisted way he actually believes that he should be the all-time HR leader, and Hammerin Hank shouldn't. Walking to his car after a Giant's homegame, and some lady wanted his autograph he said, and i quote "I can't believe how pathetic you fans are!" and promptly left. No doubt it was "Roid Rage" playing a big factor in his hostility. So yeah i believe he deserves the title.

It has got to be Barry Bonds. I realize that people must have hated Ty Cobb back in the day, but when he played, the U.S. did not have even half the population that it does now. With the millions of sports fans, all the stuff we hear and read about Bonds, and the fact that he's about to break the biggest record in sports with all the steroid/HGH stuff going on around him, he is easily the most hated athlete of all time. I really don't think it's close.

NFL- Terrell Owens- His contract-negotiating crap, his problems with Andy Reid and Brad Childress, blaming QB McNabb for losing the 05 Super Bowl, hiring Drew Rosenhaus as an agent, all factors in TO being a piece of ***
MLB- Barry Bonds- steroids scandal, calling out and blaming teammates. Close call over John Rocker. His racial southern mantality led to his recent disappearance.
NASCAR- Jeff Gordon- he has not been booed as much recently but looking back in the late 1990's, one could make argument that he was the most hated figure in all of sports. Fans would litter the track after every one of his wins, and boo him on a regular basis. And he really never did anything wrong.
NBA- Kobe Bryant- Forget the rape allegations. Forget his struggles with Shaq and his inability to involve teammates. He is probably most hated by every person who is not a Laker fan, simply because the man is not on their team.

i would say it was jackie robinson, because at his time, he was playing he was hated by just about half of america, probably even more than that... I mean now we look at him and what he went through and have mad respect for the man, but at the time, he was the most hated, had to be....
People hate TO but people look at him also and say whatever he is just a sports star, Jackie was hated by ball players and people who had nothing to do with sports just a hatred for blacks

Terrrell Owens,currently...and maybe Deion Sanders.Didnt Carlton Fisk once kick Neons *** for being such a hot dog?I think Ron Artest would rank high among most hated.I was actually glad to see the Bulls get rid of him.Speaking of mosted hated sports figures,how about most hated basketball GM,Jerry Krause would win that hands down!

Ty Cobb. The players on his own team couldn't stand him. He also once stabbed a man and beat up a man with no arms or no legs. Hardly anybody showed up to his funeral.
