This is the right answer:
They DON'T know how to answer the REAL questions, so they try to tangentially relate it to something they DO know.
I absolutely hate this, but I am totally guilty of it.

It looks to me like some people just click on to answer, write one word and then submit for 2 points......over & over again. I don't know, I always read the question and try to answer appropriately.

I think people read the questions, but their reading comprehension level is so low that they do not understand how to answer properly. Also so many questions are so poorly written that it is hard to answer properly.

Maybe they are trying to get the points. I find it frustrating myself, I often look at the questions and then look at the answers too, hoping to learn something.

I suspect they are just gathering points. Also, it the question is long, or rambling, few people are going to read it.

because sometimes people just want easy points... which is silly because the points don't really count for anything important

Points, Baby, points. Or just "Yes or No" answers kind of annoy me too. Or "Dunno" answers really get to me.
