The ones who resort to petty name calling are the mindless ideologues who refuse to accept the idea that not only do views differ from their own, many people are not locked entirely into one ideology.
Personally, I'm more irritated by things such as trolling questions which aren't really questions, and massive manifestos that are passed as a response, yet are nothing but copy-paste from various ideologue websites.
The most interesting thing I've ever been called is a Communist Nazi Jew. I'm still not quite sure how to take that one or respond to it.

This issue goes so far beyond any message board - it's a national epidemic!
I think your outlook here is going to depend which side of the political spectrum you're on. I'm a very liberal democrat, so at first I wanted to rant and rave about all the awful nasty things conservatives (Ann Coulter anyone?) have said.
Then I thought about it and realized that I'm even guilty of it myself. Politics has become very polarized. I think the petty name calling comes from immaturity - on BOTH sides. And it happens just as often on one as the other. When I step back and think about this, I realize that it's the fringe on each side that are responsible for most of the publicized namecalling these days. There are liberal nut-jobs (Michael Moore anyone?) just as there are right-wing nut-jobs. The problem is that these people have too much of a platform to toss out their innane "arguments" and these things tend to pass as real political discourse when they do nothing for politics but lower the bar.
The true issues that need to be addressed are being skipped over so that politicians and liberal/conservative media can play "I know you are but what am I?"
It's sad

It happens on the two factors yet I do have confidence that there are a number of, MANY greater correct leaning shows on the radio fantastically. So all and sundry who's so vulnerable listens interior the morning and on the way abode from artwork and gets their dose of conservative hate for the day. it incredibly is then utilized liberally :-) to casual communication to sound like they comprehend the subjects. the subject I certainly have with this, and this counts for libs and cons, is that the priority-loose person would not do any questioning for themselves. instead, they're decreased to parroting what the morning radio or television shows pronounced. some circumstances it incredibly is verbatim, with 0 unique thought. it is so profoundly disappointing to be certain political systems decreased to a minimum of one or 2 words, or, at ultimate, a valid byte it incredibly is a sentence or 2. This shows that folk do no longer do their very very own due diligence and certainly check out each and each of the concepts, comprehend them, and be certain for themselves. instead, they get their critiques infused into them from the airwaves. I certainly seen shifting to Canada and Europe while W became elected the 2d time. I figured the rustic made a mistake the 1st time, yet we gained't extremely be manipulated by ability of the media and the respective political machines...correct? nicely, yeah, i became incorrect and that i stay disenchanted in people because of the shortcoming of cost thought. besides the actuality that, it does look getting far greater advantageous now, yet I do think of it incredibly is likewise a effect of greater liberal media coverage and not certainly loose questioning and judging of information. long answer, yet i don't get disenchanted in too many stuff, so the shortcoming of awareness by ability of my fellow people is a huge deal to me. Please think of earlier you vote people - comprehend the applicants and what they stand for and commence questioning for yourselves.

Both are pretty bad. Some of them just can seem to understand that it's better to be a good American than a good Democrat or Republican.

I'd say its pretty much 50/50.
In 90% of the cases when you see the name calling, if you look at thier profile,
They will be level one.
Which means, they are either trolls, name hopping.
or
some idiot who just doesn't know any better and wants to stir things up.

I've been taking count. It's pretty even and each side is hurting their own cause. It seems political passion turns people into junion high students again.

You'll find that conservative members of Yahoo! answers are usually the ones who resort to personal attacks when they are made to look bad which is a rather common occurence.
Other than fiscal responsibility, where cons fail miserably, please name a single rational argument of theirs.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... not.
