IN Book 8, are the Phaecians perfect hosts in all? Explain why you feel this way. I was just wondering what you would think of this? Any answers are accepted and the one which I deem the best will get 10 points.

In responce to the last answerer, I am not asking you to do my homework for me. I am an intelligent english 9R student, which means that I, as a middle school student, am taking an accelerated high school course, so don't say things that you can't prove. How do you know that I am trying to get you to do my homework, in fact, i am trying to enlighten myself because I am a good kid and I want to know more. The reason i offer 10 points because most people that ask questions dont evr choose a best anser and I think that people should be rewarded for putting forth the effort. So, please, next time take the time to think before you make conclusions

The Phaecians offer Odysseus passage home, with all of the hoardings he obtained on the way and the gifts the Phaecians themselves had bestowed upon him (showing xenia, the idea of guest friendship). King Alcinous provided one fast Phæacian, ship that soon carried Odysseus home to Ithaca. However, Poseidon, upon seeing Odysseus return home, was furious and intended to cast a ring of mountains around Scheria so they could never sail again. This naturally would have been damaging to the Phaecians, as they were seafarers. Zeus, however, managed to persuade Poseidon not to do this. Instead, he turned the ship which carried Odysseus home to rock. From that day on the Phaecians resolved to be less trusting of guests.

So basically, the Phaecians are willing to give Odysseus anything he wants, but in the end are punished for it.

Why is it you kids think we are sitting here begging for points and that 10 points is worth doing your homework for you? Now if I could turn the points in for credit at stores on Rodeo Drive, it might be a different story, but points mean basically nada and I really resent you guys thinking people can be bought. I will never answer a question for someone who says something like that. Sorry. Pax - C.
