I'm trying to replace the driver's side brake light bulb. I have removed the metal screws but it seems like the lens is still being held by plastic clips. If I pull hard will I break anything? ON my Ford Windstar the lens pops off after two screws are removed and is easy to put back on. I'm afraid I'll break a clip or two and not be able to get it back on after I replace the light bulb. Help!

This info is from www.autozone.com. They have online photos and instructions. Its for a Toyota Corolla(same car as your Prism)

Rear Turn Signal, Brake and Parking Lights

See Figures 10, 11, 12 and 13

Raise the trunk lid and remove or fold back the trunk carpeting.

Fig. 10: Loosen the rear tail lamp retaining nuts from inside the trunk

Disconnect the wiring from the bulb holder(s).

If a bulb is to be changed, remove the bulb holder from the housing by pressing the tab and lifting out the holder assembly. Replace the bulb and reinsert the housing.

Remove the nuts holding the taillight assembly in place. Some may be difficult to reach.

Remove the lens assembly from the outside of the car.

When reinstalling the lens assembly, pay close attention to the placement of the gasket. It must be correctly positioned and evenly positioned to prevent water from entering the lens or trunk area. Double check the holes through which the threaded studs pass; caulk them with sealer if needed.

Install the retaining nuts and tighten them evenly. Do not overtighten them or the lens may crack.

Install the electrical connectors. Operate the lights while you check the function at the rear of the car. Replace the trunk carpet.

Yeah this is from 9 years ago. However those are not helpful answers. I know exactly what you are talking about Nolan. I can t figure it out either. Theres a plug or a clip that is holding the housing in and it doesn t seem to unscrew easily or pop off. Maybe try forcing it harder. I don t want to break anything either. If by chance you get a notification for this post, how did you do it?
