Hi Amber,
The furniture you would (might) need depends on one big
factor.
Many apartments can be rented "fully furnished". If you could
find one like that, you wouldn't need ANY of your own. But, they don't come furnished with TV's or stereos, so bring your
own--also, they do not furnish a computer, so you'll have to
bring that, too.
If you rent a bare apartment, you'll need a mattress to sleep on, a couch or chair for sitting, a table lamp, your TV, your
stereo, your computer, and at least one set of eating utensils.
Also bring pots and pans, microwave, plates and bowls, cups
and glasses, and yourself.

1. I would say just pots and pans, utensils, a coffee maker, toaster, and find out if there are microwaves in the units already, and if not, definitely get one.
2. One or two couches (a sofa and a loveseat), a coffee table, some type of tv stand, a tv of course, and maybe an end table.
3. Bed obviously, dresser with vanity or just a tall dresser, a tv stand if you'll have a tv in your room, and a nightstand. Maybe a desk if you're a student and depending how big your room is. For the bath, you won't really need anything.

Those are the basics so the decorating's up to you! Have fun, I know I did when I got my first apartment!

Well, I'd say you will need some kind of a table even if it is TV trays, for the living room it would be nice to have a couch, but I would say a TV would be more important, a necessity!!. Maybe a couple of chairs or not and a table to put your beer. You really Need a bed! If you want a dresser, fine, or a bedside table , cool, but you really need a bed! Good luck on your new apartment!♥♥

most apartments come with a fridge and stove so really just a table and chairs for that
couch and love seat..or something like that for the living room
bed room will be a bed of course
bathroom will need a curtain for the shower...
you might want to get some new curtains to hang over the windows to go with the new blinds that you will probably end up buying...and get some new floor lamps too...those always add and elegant touch

Stupid a s s question. An apartment is not something foreign. What have you been using all your life? Will you still need those basics? If you have one room then buy fewer items. If you have 2,3,4 and so on and so on then buy as much as you can afford.
