I use to live in another state and thought I made a friend. A year ago, I had to move to another state. My friend during this year, would call me up saying she had money troubles and would ask to borrow money. I would lend her the money and she told me that she would pay me back when she got her tax return. I just found out, talking to her husband, that he knew nothing of the borrowing money. All the reasons that she asked to borrow money for were not true. He told me that six months ago, he tried to put her into drug rehab. OMG!!! I told him to ask her, in a round about way, what is going on with her
tax return. How should I approach her to resolve this problem. I would really like my money back, so I don't want to make her mad. How would you handle a problem like this?

Don't expect to get your money back. She was certainly not your friend, but a druggie taking advantage of you. Move on. Consider that you spent the money to learn a lesson. The fastest way to lose friends is to loan them money.

Wow crack is wack, crack is cheap(w.houston) Obviously she aint smokin crack cause she borrowed so much money from you! But why would you ask her husband to ask her in a round-about way thats Bullsh*t! First of all the second you told him about it he should have offered to pay you right then and there, unless he is dense or broke off coke too!
Sometimes you gotta just cut your losses & don't fall for this sh*t with these two again.

If she was borrowing money to do drugs you might as well forget about ever seeing that money again. You can ask your friend to send you some money every month until the debt is paid, however, I doubt you'll ever get that money back.

If she is using, you can forget your money. Personally, I would confront her about the drug problem and ask her to get help. As far as the money goes, I would let her know that she could get no more money from me unless she pays back in full the amount she owes. This is a tough love situation.

You are going to have to ask her directly for the money back. However, if she is using drugs you might have to write that money off because she was and is still not in her right mind when she said she would pay it back. She was desparate to get drugs and would take any avenue to get them. You happened to be that avenue at that time.

In the future don't be so willing to loan money to people. My motto is if you loan it don't expect it back. If they do end up paying you back it is a bonus. Most people will usually not pay it back.

Good luck!

Your money is almost certainly gone for good. You should talk to the husband, tell him what happened. I know you don't want her mad at you but really having some consequences in her life might be the best thing for her.

Who cares if you make her mad! This is your money that you lent her and you are entitled to be paid back. Write a letter to her, that would probably be the best solution to getting your point across.

depending on how much you did lend

if it is petty amount - then leave it forget about it

its not worth worrying about

for goodness sake everybody goes through something like that whether it was family, friends, strangers

if it worries you that much and it is an xx amount - then ask her husband for it
