Hello, I can correctly do push ups, but I have one problem. I used to be able to do around 20 pushups a day and then one day, after normal activities when I did more then five push ups it feels like strings are splitting inside my arms. Like imagine my bones were made of thousands of strings and every time I did another push up it felt as if hundreds of strings just broke. I think its a problem with my muscle, because I know they are comprised of strands. SHould I see a doctor? My arm or any thing does not hurt at all when I do any other activity only does with pushups. Is this common? What should I do to it? (ice it?)

This is not common, it sounds as though you have injured yourself...but if you can do other things....hmmmm, better hae t looked at just to be safe.

Give it a rest for a while...then do some modified pushups where you stand upright and lean against a wall...sounds cheesy, but if you have injured yourself it will help you get used to the motion again when you are healing...

If your getting that sort of feeling, you should see a doctor, its better to be safe than sorry. It could possibly just been you knocking your funny bones by the movement that is involved in pushups. But see a doctor about it, worth the effort if something is wrong and you don't treat it, it could become really serious in the future.

give your body a chance to rest. even as much as a week. where is the pain?? is it centered around your elbows or shoulders?? or wrists?? if it is in your elbows and shoulders.. just rest.. you have prolly pulled something. if it is in your wrists... look at your hands and see if your knuckles are swollen. arthritis... escpecially rheumatoid arthritis.. can start suddenly with NO warning. biggest thing is tho.. let your body rest, give it a chance to heal, and then resume your workout slowly so you dont damage your muscles or connective tissues again. You hurt for a reason.. your body is telling you that you are doing something incorrectly or that there is a problem.. there is no harm in getting it checked out.

Stop doing push ups for a while and see you doctor. It may be a little too late for ice and compression which works best immediately after a trauma.

DEFINITELY ice and rest it at least a week. When you start up again ice it before AND after. If it still hurts, see a doc!!

it probably means u are working them too hard
every time u work out, ur muscle tissues are being ripped apart.....and u need protein to help build back ur muscles...thats how ur muscles build
if u don't allow enough time for them to heal, ur just damaging them
