HI all,
Do you think " Baby on Board" signs make cars slow down? I dont believe so, but what do u think?

wow.. people are saying that those signs make them mad or whatever? thats just rediculous.. anyways.. i agree with that girl above, they are mostly just signs proud parents put up. Any asshole who is just a rediculous driver isnt going to care whether someone has a baby or not they dont learn until they hurt someone with their driving... (if even then)

They are indeed supposed to be for alerting emergency services that there is a baby in the vehicle, so it isn't missed while dealing with an accident. Unfortunately 90% of drivers are too thick to understand this and leave the sign up even when junior isn't there, thus wasting the time of rescuers in looking for an non-existant infant. I can tell you there's nothing as heart-sinking as turning up to an accident where the adult occupant is unconscious and unable to talk to you and finding one of those signs so you frantically search all through, round and under the car looking for the little one . . .

No i don't think they make people slow down - and i don't think that is the purpose either. I always thought they looked pretty silly but now, at 36.5wks pregnant, i know i will be getting one.
Not because i expect people to slow down, not because i am bragging as a "proud mum" - but because if i am in an accident or something i want people to know there is a baby there so they can bypass me and get to my baby first!

yeah right! If it really did make all those speeding jerks slow down everyone would have one. The only time I see a car slowing down by me is when its some guy trying to get an eyeful.

I never considered that to be their purpose. I think have one in our car because if we got in an accident and we both unable to speak, the rescuers would know to look for our child too.
Honestly, it's nothing to to with me being a 'proud mom' who just wants to brag to the world about having a baby...I just want to keep her safe.
And the idiots who drive behind definitely don't slow down!

I have a problem with thoes signs...i always say that i was deffinatly going to rear end them or side swipe em, but since theyve got a baby on board im not going to, ill get htat other guy infront of em. its stupid to have that sign, all that does is say to child nappers that i have a baby and might leave it in the car if i go to publix or a supermarket. those signs are stupid and do not get people to slow down

Those signs have always been silly to me... think about it, if we see a car with that sign, we're not thinking "oh, I better not hit that car, I'll go hit the other one instead" - the trick is to never drive recklessly or hit ANY cars, isn't it?

No I don't. People probably dont even notice them. They are too wrapped up in getting to where they need to go, they dont care about the kid or expectant kid in your car.

I would (slow down). It makes me more aware of how I'm driving and that I need to be more cautious.

I wish it did, but no other drivers care about the child in your car. I think it just annoys people.
