Help i have a 1964 chevy impala with a 355ci and a 350turbo trans.If anyone has cut a driveshaft for this i like to know how much to cut off.Oh the trans is a short tail.thanks

Well, you will need to measure from the yoke of the rear-end to the end of the tailshaft on the trans. Take this measurement to your local driveline shop and let them know where you measured from. They should be able to make you one or modify your current shaft to fit. Plus they can balance it properly for you.

I have had to do this on numerous occasions in my automotive projects.

Mere inches. A driveshaft specialist has to measure everything and cut it just right with the trans in the car. Then it has to be 'balanced', again. %$&%&^%%#$*&(&%$^ two piece driveshafts and their damn carrier bearings! The X frames of '58--'64 were a stupid idea.

yes...........but don,t remember the exact measurement..........take your measurement,s with the car on the ground........from tail spout to yoke at the rear........go to your local drive line shop........they should already know.......but take your measurement,s just in case......good luck!
