I don't believe any qb on that roster is the qb of the future. They need to draft Brady Quinn but I doubt they will. Chris Simms has sucked even in his Longhorn days, he gets a free pass to the NFL because he's the son of Phil Simms. Garcia is ok for some games but will not last the whole season. Did you guys not see all those missed interceptions in the NFC semifinals? We saw how Gradkowski did this season.

Jeff Garcia is not the QB of the future for the Bucs. He has at best 2 years left in the league. Remember his herniated disc in SF. Remember his ineffectiveness in Detroit behind a bad O-line. These are things that Bucs fans need to see now so that don't complain in November when Tampa is effectively eliminated from the playoffs. Tampa Bay has a lot of older players. Gruden for some reason thinks he can take a bunch of past their prime players and squeeze 1-2 more spectacular years out of them. Sure he did it in Oakland for a couple of years, but most of his team were on a first name basis with Victor Conte and BALCO. When he tried it in Tampa with Charlie Garner, TIm Brown, and Joey Galloway, he failed. The best thing for Gruden to do is admit that Tampa is in a rebuilding mode, trade or cut the older players who are not making an impact, draft some impact players that can learn from the experienced players that can still contribute and not build expectations. Sure, he might find himself in the unemployment line, but he might find himself there anyway after creating a QB controversey last year and trying a free agent proclamation that will affect their salary cap next year.
As for QB's, let Chris Simms come back and make him the incumbent starter. He and Garcia can trade stats during the pre-season. If Garcia's stats are simply too good to be true, then make him the starter. If he and Simms are close, then Simms needs to start. He is the younger of the two and has more of a distant future than Garcia.

Jeff doesn't have many years left, he isn't young. He will do great for 2-3 seasons. Chris Simms won't be the quarterback of the future. If the Bucs get Calvin Johnson, Jeff Garcia will be a great mentor to him and teach him not to be like TO and Moss. He will develope faster with a vet at quarterback.

Jeff Garcia is a great QB. He deserves a starting spot especially after his performance last year. He's smart about his throws, and that's what it takes to gain some yards.
If I was a Buc fan, I'd be happy with Jeff as their new QB.

morethanawoman is right. jeff garcia has talent, but he's due to go into the retirement home. chris simms only has recognition because of who his father is; ive watched some Bucs games and he (nor gradkowski) have wowed me much. i wouldnt be surprised if these guys were out of the NFL by 2009.
Since Jake Plummer decided to be an idiot and retire ( because he isn't "guaranteed" the starting job that he lost as a bronco to a ROOKIE ), the Bucs have two options.
Option#1:
I would have them look to draft John Beck out of BYU. See if they can trade down from the 4th pick to get him in the teens ( or if lucky 2nd round ) on Draft Day. NFL.com has this info on him:
Positives: Intelligence and decision-making ... Ability to read defenses and pick up blitzes ... Pocket poise ... Quick release ... Accuracy on short and intermediate passes ... Ability to develop good timing with his receivers ... Ability to avoid pressure ... Better performances vs. stronger teams on BYU's schedule.
Negatives: Height (6-2) and thin frame ... Arm strength ... Sidearm delivery, which, coupled with his height, makes his passes susceptible to being knocked down at the line.
Option #2:
If the Bucs are willing to take a gamble, Billy Volek should be able to make himself at home in Tampa Bay. Since Vince Young has the starting job in Tenneesee, he had moved onto the back up role in San Diego. Volek has talent, but if he wants to have a starting job intact he could be most welcome in Buccaneer Pewter.

It's been reported that Gruden said Simms still has the starting job. That could change from now until after training camp. I personally want Garcia to take the snaps on account of Simms being terribly over-rated.

Chris Sims although, I think Jeff Garcia, was an excellent pick up. He can win consistantly, now and, along the way, teach Sims, some good habits.

they are either going to draft a player or dip into FA!
This is my prediction for their QB's:
Jeff Garcia is going to be benched 1/2 way through the season because he sucks! They are going to replace him with Simms.
Simms is going to be the Starter til the end of the season then Garcia is either going to retire or be released. Simms is going to want out of Tampa and they are going to draft a QB or dip into FA!!

i mean him and chris simms are competin fo the starting job but i think and know that jeff garcia will beat him out for that starting job, i will poop myself if simms wins the starting job over garcia
and for years to come, who knows who there QB will be, maybe it will end up as chris simms in the next 2-3 years as there future QB
