Both are pretty, but I like Katara better, it sounds more unique and fancy

Kya means - Ocean (It's the feminine form of the Hawaiian boys name Kai)
Katara means - Blessed, pure, holy (It's from the Hungarian name Kata)
personally I like Kya better.

Can't seem find the name kya, its kyan(boy) meaning "ancient" and kyara(girl) meaning "clear, bright, famous" that keeps comes up during my searches. Katara on the other hand is a feminine name and means "celebrant". I think I like Kya better.

Kya (or Kaia) means... In both Sanskrit and Hebrew, it means "life force." In Norwegian, Kya means "field stone". In Hungarian, Kya means "friendly house ghost!" In Danish and Hawaiian, it stands for "ocean." In Afrikanse, it means "hearth," Kya is also the Greek Goddess of the Earth. I like Kya better than Katara, but they're both beautiful names!

if you go to babynames.com you can get it. But when I searched Kya i got feminine version of kai.
I didn't get anything on katara sorry...
I like kya I think it is a pretty name.

Ok you already got the meanings...lol. I just wanted to say that I love those names!!! Very unique. It's hard to pick which one I like more, but I think I'm leaning toward Kya.

Kya is a beautiful name - it's African and means "Diamond in the Sky." :-) I don't really like Katara - it reminds me too much of catarrh (mucus blockage... eeew!). lol
