Take Ten (1955)

Shel Silverstein mostly writes silly and funny kid's poems, and I haven't been able to find any really romantic ones by him... But there is a cute poem that rhymes and is kind of sweet: 'Hug-O-War' By Shel Silverstein. Also there is 'Put Another Log on The Fire' by him but that one is also kind of depressing! Hope this helps. Here is hug-o-war: I will not play at tug o'war. I'd rather play at hug o'war, Where everyone hugs Instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles And rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses, And everyone grins, And everyone cuddles, And everyone wins.

Take Ten, a book of army cartoons, was published in 1955 (and later published, with few changes, as Grab Your Socks!)

After the cartoons came:

Now Here's My Plan: A Book of Futilities was published in 1960.

Dr. Shelby's ABZ Book, which was also aimed at adults, was published (in Playboy magazine) in 1961. I don't know in what year ABZ was published as an independent book.

Lafcadio, The Lion Who Shot Back was his first book for children; it was published in 1963.

The first book I remember by Shel S. was "Lafcadio The Great".
