I listen to all kinds of music even foreign stuff..it just depends on the type of mood I am in, you cant judge or assume something about someone just because of the type of music they listen to.

To many, the type of music a person listen to can tell a bit about that person. I see the logic in this thinking but I don't' necessarily agree with it. There are many different reasons why people listen to the type of music they do. A person could have a fondness for a particular type of music because it is what they grew up listening to. A person, such as myself, could like all different types of music and consider more than one genre their favorite type of music. The latter would make it hard to tell what type a person someone is.

Just because someone listens to a song called, "I am a loser" doesn't say anything about them. My boyfriend loves the song, "Slow Motion" by Third Eye Blind and it's about drugs and death and so much more depressing subjects and he's happy, healthy, drug free and going to law school! It shouldn't matter what people listen to and people shouldn't be judged by what they listen to. Who's to say what range of music is when there's so much out there to listen to? Everyone's different so there's nothing to be said about that.

I think a person's choice of music says more about the mood they are in, rather than what their personality is like.

Songs that have lyrics saying stuff like "I am a loser" or "everyone hates me" doesn't necessarily mean the listener thinks that about him- or herself...it could be that the person listening to those types of songs is imagining that about someone they know or dislike.

You can't really tell what people are like by the music they choose to listen to, despite what someone says above. I am nearly 40 years old, and when I am not wearing conservative suits at work, I wear loose-fitting jeans and brightly colored polo shirts or t-shirts...and I listen to goth, industrial and death-metal (when I'm in the mood for it). You'd literally never know it by looking at me. Shocked the daylights out of several of my co-workers when we were carpooling to an important company meeting. Another co-worker of mine dresses like he comes from the ghetto, hair extentions and everything, but he doesn't listen to "gangsta" rap or hip-hop. He says it gives him a headache. What does he listen to? Oldies. Yup...Elvis, Beach Boys, Beatles...that kind of stuff.

No everyone listens to different music since we all like different kinds of music. I would never listen to those songs from Dark Days.

People usually like the same music that they grew up with, and the music that their parents listened to probably influenced them a lot. Unless your goth and like death metal or something extreme like that it probably doesn't say much about your personality
