No, the IRS has nothing to do with property tax.

Property tax is a local government issue, usually your city, township or state.

As mentioned in other answers, you can only deduct (as an itemized deduction on Schedule A) property taxes when paid. That might be the only thing the IRS would question.

You cannot deduct property tax that is owed but not yet paid. You can only deduct the property tax you paid in the tax year you are preparing a filing.
