most likely they are braxton hicks contractions - basically practice contractions. some are faint and some are painful. and if they are irregular - thats normal.

I had pre-labor contractions every day starting around 36 weeks, and my baby went until 10 days past due. The day he was born, I was having the same contractions when "WHAM", I got hit with a hard one and they jumped from every 15 minutes to every nine, then to every 4. Start to finish took nine hours and was my first, so while they may be pre-labor, remember the more pre-labor contractions you have, the less actual labor you may have! So those contractions are doing something!

Im 35 weeks also and have the same thing. Ive had them everyday..they arent really hard but still painful and dont last real long. But when i told my Dr. she totally ignored the comment and told me it was stress on the ligaments in my leg causing the pain..which I know isnt true because i talked to another Dr and she said she thought they were contractions. She said nothing to worry about until The pain was almost unbearable and lasted more than a few seconds.

It's probably Braxton Hicks contractions. They are actually happening the entire pregnancy but become more acute as the end of gestation comes. Don't be stupid. Call your doctor. He/she will reassure that all is well. Braxton Hicks can be so intense that they will cause you to go to the hospital. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I went to thehospital with "false" labor on 3 separate occassions. The night she was finally born I refused to go to the doctor because I could not bear to be sent home again-lol. Callyour doctor but I'm betting you are fine - Let us KNow!!! Good luck -k-

If you are having 5 or more contractions in an hour you should call your doctor because that is one sign of preterm labor, or if you feel worry go ahead and call , It doesn`t hurt to go get check out . I went into preterm labor at 6 months they gave me a shot to stop my labor . i was having 5 or more contraction in one hour.

I would call your doctor.
If they are becoming more painful (the books) say that it could be labour. I have had two kids and my contractions never got regular.
Good Luck
