an underscore is usually put to leave a space, like in emails. I don't think your wife should call your daughter kacie_lei.

I like the name ( and the variant spelling) but I cannot see the significance of the underscore. On the other hand I can't see any reason why NOT to use it.

underscores shouldn't be used in names
try a - instead of a _
if she's just trying to give the child a "cool" name it will just look ridiculous in later years
also, Kacie just looks horrible, try a different spelling alternative, like Casey, people don't like it when others spell their name wrong, I guarantee no-one will spell Kacie without your daughter having to spell it out for them

It is a device to visually separate words to allow them to be easily read by eye without inserting a space. If your wife insists on this name, she should use a hyphen: Casey-Lee.

That your wife probably had an affair with someone from on-line, and wants the baby to have a name to remind her of it?

She wants to name your daughter that?
It means she has rectal cranial inversion. Otherwise known as "head up rear end."
