I saw in Babies R Us there little blankets with a toy on top, I'm not sure what are these for? Did you baby have one? Is it worth buying?

Yup, I know the toy you're talking about. And yes, my son has two identical ones. I'd hoped, when he grabbed it in the store at 7 or 8 months, that he'd attach to it, so I bought two (I don't normally buy whatever he grabs, but this was emphatic, and I was hoping to find something he'd attach to anyway).

For me it was a waste of money. He prefered one of his fuzzy blankets, it's now his security blanket. I don't try putting him in his crib without it! It's the first thing he does in there, find his blankie and rub his face in it.

But I know a family it worked for. Their little girl bonded to the pink one. So it depends. Your little one will pick a transitional object (security blanket/favourite stuffed animal) of his or her own choosing. You can't do anything but offer.

I know what your talking about and its basically like a toy with a little blanket. Some kids have a favorite stuffed animal, blanket, towel which is their security object {comforts them}. My daughter has a stuffed cat from build a bear she got yrs ago that still goes with her into the hospitals and she's soon to be 14. My neice has a bear my mom gave her she calls "feel better bear" it was given to her when she was really sick and one day I joked with her "Im gonna throw out that bear" she had a fit told me if I did she'd whoop my a** she's 13. My son is 10 months and hasnt found his security object other then myself or my husband. So I'd say if you want your child to have it go for it but really what makes you think that, that is the toy they will use as their security object

A security blanket is any familiar object whose presence provides comfort or security to its owner, such as the literal blankets often favored by small children. It is a comfort object and is also known as a "security object." The phrase "security blanket" was popularized in the Peanuts comic strip created by Charles M. Schulz, who gave such a blanket to his character Linus van Pelt. Another term for security blanket is "wubby", which was popularized by the 1983 movie Mr. Mom. Also, in The Producers, Leo Bloom carries a security blanket and goes into a fit of hysteria when he is separated from it.

its something that they can get attached to besides you...some ppl use binkies and other ppl use blankets or the baby just becomes attached to something on there own....my baby loves the binkie...it just makes them feel safe with it.
