Nothing has been confirmed, but the creator of Smash Bros. has stated that he isn't going to force using the Wii remote or nunchuck unless it enhances the gameplay. So your guess is as good as mine.
I think it will just use the classic controller or the Gamecube controller.

Since the game is still in development, there really isn't anyway of knowing how it will be played. I'm pretty sure that the Nunchuk will be necessary to play, but no one knows.

And unlike the last guy said, about 'Brawl' being the one game with online multi player. Actually that's not true, the first Wii game that will use the Wi-Fi feature will be 'Pokemon Battle Revolution'.

i believe the SSB Brawl may call for the classic controller. As far as i know, neither the remote or the nunchuck is needed(ingame play)

*The Classic Controler goes into the remote as does the nunchuck*

While the controls have not been explicitly revealed, it has been confirmed that you can use a Gamecube controller. Possibly not with the same button controls though. Remeber it's still in development. :P
