What psych effects can cause pregnancies or pregnancies can cause effects? I'll answer both:
1. Psychological effects that can cause pregnancies:
Teen pregnancies are overwhelmingly more likely in low SEC, so it is probable that: a) the families can't afford birth control or other forms of contraception b) it is more socially acceptable for them to have children c) they are more likely to have pre-marital sex--because, perhaps it is more acceptable, because their parents serve as models for pre-marital sex
2. There are many psychological effects that result from teen pregnancies: both on parent and child: low birth weight and other birth defects lead to physical and thus psych disabilities, low parental involvement (which probably perpetuates the problem--because then the children grow to become poor parents) which leads the child to become disengaged (lots of research on this) and emotionless, poverty perpetuation (because if teen is pregnant, won't go to college or persue a career) which limits resources.
teen parent psych problems: anxiety, depression, unwanted marriages, unwanted children, abortions, (which can cause problems for those who don't believe in them) stress on immediate family, increased propensity for drop out. etc.
This is not to say that it can't be successfully done. If you have a loving supporting family who can help you, (or a healthy amount of determination).

i think it all depends on the teenager herself.. i had a baby when i was 16 years old... it was hard for me of course, but because of my personal experience and having raised my 3 younger sister, it was a little bit easier for me to understand what was and what needed to happen.. as far as social effects.. its just about the same as adults with children... it makes it harder for them to have a life and do whatever they want.. and not to sound like a hippocrate or anything.. but isn't that what got them in the predicament they are in now? In most cases it makes them grow up a lot faster then they would want to.. but once again.. you have to be responsible for their actions
