I've been on the birth control pill Loestrin Fe24 since December (2006). I'm not good at taking it when I should and ended up missing two consecutive pills last week (Monday/Tuesday - 3/12 and 3/13). My fiancee and I had unprotected sex three times within those two days. I was on week two of my pills when I missed them. Since I missed them, my period began on Thursday (3/15). Is there any chance I could've gotten pregnant even though I started my period? If so, would my fertilized egg have survived the period? Also, I've stopped taking the pills for the rest of the month and won't be starting a new pack until I get my next regular period and chances are that I won't be having sex until the new pack is started.

I forgot to add that I have been having nausea and headaches everyday since then which is very unusual for me!! Although I realize these could possibly just be due to my period.

Odds are you are not pregnant, why did you stop taking your pills? You do not usually get a period once fertilization occurs. But it CAN happen and the sperm can survive up to 7 days in the vagina. But since you have stopped for the rest of the month, I would say you should use condoms, unless you want a pregnancy.

Yes you can get pregnant from missing 2 pills. You can actually get pregnant even if you don't miss any. Only abstanence is fool proof. You can also have a period even while your pregnant. It is uncommon, but not unheard of. WIth that being said, the odds are that you are not pregnant, if your worried about it, take a pregnancy test, they are pretty cheap and reliable. Make sure when you start taking the new pack again you follow the guidelines. Once you stop taking the pill, it's like starting all over again so depending on the pill and when in your cycle you start taking it you may not be protected from the word go. Also if you are not already aware, taking antiobiotics will counter the pill, so always use another form of protection while on antibiotics.

Yes, you can get pregnant from missing just one pill. You can even get pregnant if your pill is not strong enough for your weight. You shouldn't start a new pill pack until you know for sure you aren't pregnant as that can harm the baby. Some people do have a normal period the first month after getting pregnant. Some have spotting too. Some do not have any bleeding. Take a pregnancy test. I recommend using a digitial test that will tell you "Not Pregnant" or "Pregnant". Then you don't need to worry about reading the lines on other tests.

If you are saying you HAVEN'T had sex since your period started, it's probably unlikely that you are pregnant. Just to be safe, once your period is over you could take a home pregnancy test to put your mind at ease.

If you are going to be going a few weeks without taking your birth control it's VERY important that you use a back up form of birth control (like condoms) during your ENTIRE NEXT PILL PACK! Being off the pill (even for as short of a time as two weeks) can cause your body to ovulate. You don't want to take any chances! So for the next month, double up!

**by the way, I would imagine it is going to be about a month before you have your next "regular" period. You might want to start your new pill pack as soon as your period stops (assuming your pregnancy test is negative!)

Anything is possible. I got pregnant by being on the pill I did not miss any but I did take a pill later that day then what I normally do now I have a baby girl that is a year old.

You sure can, and you can also have your period the first month you are pregnant, some people even have their period through their whole pregnancy! Since the pill is not for you, I would recommend another method like the shot or something like that so you don't have to take it everyday since you said that you are bad at it.

My friend has two boys and a baby on the way. She wasn't very good at remembering to take her pills either. She has been on birth control since she was sixteen. Every time she missed a pill and her and her boyfriend had sex, she got preggo. So yes pregnancy is a possibility. To ease your mind I would take a pregnancy test...asap :)

If you read your bcp package insert, pregnancy is definitely a possibility. Don't assume that a period means your not pregnant...some women have spotting their entire pregnancy, some women have implantation bleeding, etc. Talk to your doctor, or at the very least, take a hpt.

It could be possible...sperm lives in the vagina for 3-5 days and 2 missed pills are enough to get pregnant.
See your obgyn and good luck!
