I have seriously considered buying a DDR game- almost all of my friends have them, and they seem to be really popular at parties. And, I think a DDR game will help me get some excersise and have fun doing it. I understand it's not that vigorous of excercise, but at least I won't be sitting on my behind with a controller in my hand.

What do you think about Dance Dance Revolution? I would like some opinions from peple who have played the game or own it, what did you think of it?

The DDR series is a great way to get active while gaming as there's been a lot of claims of weight loss just by playing the game (& altering their eating patterns... but mostly gameplay). Even though you ultimately control how hard you want to go, the game can get pretty vigorous on Single Hard with the 10-footers. You can even kick it up another notch by playing doubles (requires 2 pads).

The only downside with the game is the wear & tear on the pads. Soft pads normally last about 6-12 months TOPS with moderate use. Metal pads usually last longer, but cost more (~$200 or more per pad). If you're really creative, you can design your own pads (or use a publicly released plan, you can look around.) which can last you practically a lifetime (as you can make the repairs) for about $150 per pad ($300-$350 for a full dance stage) for materials.

Besides the DDR series, there's In the Groove (now owned by Konami) that's a longer version of the DDR series (songs are about 2-3 time longer). There's also Pump It Up, which is a 5-panel, diagonal variant (not owned by Konami) that you can play.

Finally, if you want the cutting edge of the DDR series... You might want to check out Stepmania, the DDR simulator for your computer. It's a bit of a Do-It-Yourself program as you have to install everything you want (songs, themes, ect.), but there's plenty of songs you can enjoy with it, including official DDR songs (WARNING: ILLEGAL TO DOWNLOAD DUE TO COPYRIGHT LAW!)

I've included a link to the DDR Freak community, which contains information on every DDR game released in the world (not just the US) as well as step charts for the songs in the game.

I've also included a link to Stepmania as it's on the cutting edge for new songs (publicly created stuff). It's worth checking out as the site gets update on a semi-daily (or at least weekly) basis.

I have DDR for PS2 and I love it, not only do you have fun, you are also active and breaking out sweats from time to time. There is even a convenient Workout Mode for it. To me, it was an excellent buy.

Well i would say get a PS2 because it has the most other games as well as DDR. The best DDR game i would say would be DDR extreme 2. the newest one, supernova is confusing and annoying. You can buy DDR and a playstation at Walmart for cheap or other bargain stores like that
