My 2002 PT Cruiser air bag light comes on when you usually first start the car and stays on for about 2 or 3 min. or comes on for a few minutes while you are driving. I took it to the dealer and they said they can't find any thing wrong. The light did not come on while the dealer had it.

On some cars, the fault is not stored when it is corrected (i.e. intermittent). What you need to do is take it in when the light is on, that way a fault can be pulled and a proper diagnosis can be made. With the light off, the computer is detecting no problems. It is like going to the dentist for a toothache and it goes away in the waiting room. The dentist isn't going to find a problem if there is no reference (pain).

if the light comes on this only means the airbag will not work in an accident now if it stayed on for more than a minute and the car detected a problem the car recorded this problem in its brain if you took the car to a Chrysler mechanic when he plugged it in he would have seen the code and knew the problem and been able to fix it it is only a sensor problem you have nothing that will harm the operation of your car i really dont like airbags so i would be glad it came on because i know it isn't working but if you feel safer get it fixed otherwise id ignore it

It should not stay on for more than a few seconds after the car is started. Find a dealer that knows how to repair vehicles, since apparently the one you took it to doesn't.

With the light on you are NOT protected.

It is probably a bad sensor.
