How do you make a dramatic, eye catching entrance to a formal event?

(It's my prom, and my date and I plan to make a dramatic entrance, and are in need of some ideas...)

Turn up without your trousers on.

Go in a fancy dress theme (eg. Elton John and David Furnish).

Do something different (eg. fall down the stairs, crash through a window, etc)

If you and your date are Mr. and Mrs. Popular well you can pretty much do just about anything, all eyes are going to be on you by default. However, if you are of the "rebel", "loser" "geek", "nerd", "emo" variety then to show up opposite your character floors 'em every time.
I've always found that when I show up late (because I just can't get anywhere on time even when I get up early!) and come in a room totally unaffected, dressed in ways that are unexpected of me (because they always underestimate the "weirdoes") I get accosted the entire night of an event. If that's what you want - go for it.

Big limo, breath taking dress, and ask if you can drive the limo like 5 feet to make your entrance, thats very original i can't remember anyone that has done that. You can pull up and and hop out of the drivers side.

Have someone use a blow horn when you're about to walk in, everyone will look at the door and then yall can walk in and everyone will see you.. not the most graceful, but it is dramatic and eye catching!

Get a classmate/friend to walk in front of you and announce you at the doors,

"Ladies and Gentlemen may I announce Ms. Blank looking breathtaking in (whatever colors/name it is you're wearing) escorted by the handsome Mr. Blank, stylish and charming as always!" Have him/her bow and step to the side as you walk in.
