If the people who are popular are really nice, then go with them. But in the end, it sound like the other clique is the one that will really back you up and give you more freedom. I kind of had a chance to be popular but I gave it up to be with my true friends and it really payed off. I hope you make the right choice, but I don't think either would be a bad group to hang out with.

I hope this helps!!! =)

Forget the "popular" kids. Stick to the clique that is true. The populars once you get down to it are one of the meanest people you could ever meet. They are NOT friends you need, or deserve. These kids would rat you out for anything. Everyone [if your school is like mine] hates the "populars" and make a point not to be with them. Go to the true clique they will always have your back, and will even 5 years from now. You deserve it have a genuine, and true clique.

if it were me, I would go with the more genuine and true group. when you are out in the real world after college either working or married or starting a family, popularity will not follow you, but you are more likely to keep in touch with those in the genuine and true group. After all, the foundations of the best friendships are often based on honesty and realness, not really popularity. ask yourself, 10 years from now, who do you hope to still be in touch with? i know the answer for myself if I were deciding.

I had the same problem in my Junior year of high school. I went with the more genuine group. You could try to ride the fence for a while. I feel for you. If you have a good relationship talk with your mom about it. She may have had the same problems. I am a 52 yr old mom. I have a niece who changed her daughters school because some of her friends did not like her having black friends and started becoming very unkind

maybe you should split your time and spend time with both cliques?
