In my opinion most soaps are the same, its all in personal choice. When cleaning heavy, dirty, very nasty clothes a heavy duty detergent should be used. Like Tide,ERA,or Wisk. But with just every day wear clothes (not the ones worn for days guys!) any soap is fine. For people with allergies or skin irritations then they need to use a "fragrance free" soap, or a free and clear one. If you like smells then you can always add a softener which is better because it usually goes in at the last rinse. Again personal choice. But for this time where you grabbed the wrong soap just invest in a good softener to make up for the smell and it will be extra soft too!!!

I have to purchase fragrance free laundry detergent. I purchase Cheer Free. I even found and purchase fragrance free dryers sheets.
I have a daughter who has sensitive skin, and detergent with fragrance seem to contribute in aggravating her skin.
Instead of having to do her laundry separately, since it would increase my utility bills, I wash the whole family's laundry in fragrance free detergent and put fragrance free dryer sheets in the dryer.

I'm glad you can laugh. I do the same thing occasionally. I use ALL fresh Rain or ALL some kind of flowery scent. I'm too lazy to go downstairs and look. It's the first time I bought it. The guys don't seem to notice the fragrance; so it's not too flowery.

I love the smell of Gain, you could add some liquid fabric softener to your rinse ,that would give the clothes some smell until you use it all up.
