The only disadvantage I know of cloning a plant is the clone is the same age as the plant. ie A new stalk of corn cloned from a four week old stalk of corn begins with one half to one third of it's life already gone (depending on variety).

Hybrids have been sucessful. Cloning hasn't yet produced anything useful - maybe someday.

basically i think there are problems because there might have a problem with the genetic mutation as we have not studied cloning far enough. The milk may have a different taste or the peas might have a different color. Many factors change as cloning has risks

k. I believe it is ok to conduct experiments of this "cloning" in a secure enviornment, however there is a "potential" risk in delving into things we may not have any buisness doing,or may not yet be able to percieve the potential consequences of.

possibly recessive genes in the cloned plants will make them more susceptible to disease, parasites, and fungus. but the stronger will survive and pass on those more resilient genes to the next generation.
