At the end of an interview, I forgot to ask when I'd hear back and the employer didn't say. Is this a bad sign

The exit was going smoothly: I shook hands and thanked both interviewers warmly and was on my way out the door. I then thought to ask when I would hear back from them but I was out the door!I was nervous and I didn't want to swing back in after my graceful exit. They also did not offer anything in terms of when I would hear from them. I also noticed the job has just been reposted (it is a government and unionized job and I'm an external applicant). Do I stand a chance? I sent a thank you card, should I follow up some more?

hmmmm if it was reposted..i would say they are still searching..i hate interviews its all depends on the person you get interviewed with..some are assholes and some are actually really nice

I don't think they will hold it against you that you forgot to ask. You were wise to not go back in. And I don't think reposting is a problem. It could be something as simple as they forgot to put something in the previous post. They have to follow the letter of the law and if they don't, they have to start over.

The thank you card is great, so follow up in a couple of days with a phone call. That is when you can ask about hearing back. Good luck!

I would say wait for a while. If you haven't heard from them in a week, maybe call back to ask if the position had been filled. Don't stress about seeming too keen about the job. Enthusiasm is a good thing. But don't annoy them or bug them by hounding them too much.
