I've recently bought a Mac, and i've had it for about 3 months, it didn't have internet however, but everything was running quietly and smoohly. I just got nternet about 2 days ago, and still everything ran perfectly. It was a little while ago where it started making this really loud noise... like a vacuum. It nevere did that before. What could that possibly be? I hope it's not a virus.

Check and see if you left a CD or DVD in the drive.
Some times they will spin up every now and then to read the CD / DVD and make that noise like you described.
If you find a disk in the drive then there is nothing wrong with your Mac, just remove the disk.
If it is not the CD / DVD then you may have a fan bearing that is worn out and needs to be replaced.

Hi Chrystal,

First off, congratulations on your new Mac. What kind of Macintosh is it though? Is it a MacPro or is it a G5 PowerMac? The G5 has multiple fans. Once the Mac heats up those fans kick in. If it gets hotter then the fans go into over-drive.

If you're really concerned about that, you should take it into a Macintosh dealer that has a technician and have them check it out. Best of luck to you.
