I have a nine month old and I hear the "berry" family can cause an allergic reaction. Does that mean all berries? Even strawberries?

If there are any allergies in the baby's family including mother and fathers side it is suggested to wait till about 2 years to introduce strawberries.Blueberries and raspberries I have heard are less likely to cause a reaction like strawberries but I would be safe and wait till about a year. There are lots of other good nutritious foods you can give your baby.Your best bet is to ask your doctor.Good luck.

ESPECIALLY strawberries. I would check with my doctor to see about the best way of introducing berries to him/her as safely as possible. My brother LOVED strawberries, but after he had eaten them for awhile, he suddenly one day had an allergic reaction to them and his lips swelled up HUGE!

Especially the "seedy" berries like strawberies.
Wait until after 1 year on those.

Strawberries are the worst at causing allergies before the age of one.

Im sure alot of ppl will have a fit and give me thumbs down for this but.. At 6 months old my son had his first strawberry and he was fine. People also claim eggs my son had his first taste of eggs thanks to grandpa when he was 6 months old scrambled eggs at that. He hasnt had any allergy symptoms for anything he eats the only thing I will NOT give him is honey that simple.

My pediatrician told me to stay away from strawberries in particular until my children were over one year of age. They tend to cause a bright red diaper rash... at least that's what I was told!
