The obvious tourist destinations are the Zoo, Sea World, Wild Animal Park, and Balboa Park. I'd recommend renting a bike and riding around Coronado, heading to Torrey Pines for hiking, Black's Beach, and to check out the gliderport, Kayaking the sea caves in La Jolla or just walking around the coastline there and saying hi to the seals at Children's Pool.

The best and first place to visit is Balboa Park, it's a relaxing environment and nice place to take a walk and plenty of things to explore. Sea World is really nice and around the corner from Sea World there is a really nice beach that has a small attaction of rides, it's real fun. San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park is nice, but while living there never got a chance to go. If you have money you would enjoy their Hot Air Balloon rides, beautiful for the day. Oh and if you like visit Petco park where the Padre's play, nice and after that you can have downtown to enjoy.

There are alot of websites about San Diego but what I am going to share to you is my personal experience when I stayed there for 2 months last year.
I bought 2 maps prior to going to San Diego. However, both were incomplete. I bought a 3rd one, it was complete, however, they are too small to be seen by the naked eye. You need a magnifying lens to read it.
What's the reason behind this? San Diego is widespread. I was able to appreciate the whole of San Diego after my trolley ride. Ride all cars and go down in some places and explore the areas. There are buses at some trolley stations.
See the last American exit at San Ysidro. There is an outlet there which is more cheaper than in the malls.
See also one of the tallest bridge in the world, the Coronado bridge! This offers a spectacular view of the areas around it. Did you know that this was awarded due to its structure? Dont ever miss Hotel Coronado, which is one the most beautiful not only in the USA but in the world.
Harbor View has magnificent view in which you can stroll. My cousins checked in at the Mariott Hotel overviewing the harbor and its really SPECTACULAR!
Dont ever miss oceanside too! I passed by it going to LA via Greyhound and Amtrak.
The tourisy areas in San Diego would definitely include Sea World and San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. This is located in the Balboa Park which is one of the most beautiful parks in the world. Explore what you can see in these parks in the yahoo travel, through its website!
When going to Sea World and San Diego Zoo, avail of the bottomless drinks which can also serve as souvenir. I hope it is still their promo. I had mine last year and brought it home in the Philippines.
Monitor the weather in San Diego before you leave! You can start monitoring it right at your desktop via my yahoo. I usually compare it to my place's weather.
Go to Calrsbad if you have more time and see Legoland and if it is still within season, the strawberry fields.
Go to yahoo travel, travel guides and see San Diego. It has the top 10 attractions and their websites at the bottom of the page and it offers a slideshow!
Enjoy San Diego and plan your trip well. Make a schedule to make the most out of your money!

There are lots of fun things to do in San Diego. It depends on your interests. A fun and unique restaurant is the Corvette Diner. It's located in the Hillcrest Area and has a vintage corvette in the middle of the restaurant and a live DJ. The servers dress like the 50s and do crazy things. It's a 50s style malt shop with prices that aren't too bad.
