This is the most general question I have ever seen in this category.

There are many ways to develop a website. And different coding/programming languages. This all is based on what you want your site to do. Most gaming sites rely on PHP coding as a standard, many others use XML, and a lot of others use HTML coding.

With this code, you basically tell the browser where it has to put different texts, images, etc on the site, relating to background fonts and colors. You can even use animations in flash, java, etc.

You have to find a place to host your site. There are many places that will do this depending on what your site is for...business, personal, hobby related, etc. And you have to come up with a name for your site that has not been taken already, register it, and link the URL to your site.

There is so much I could tell you about this, but your best bet is to goto a local bookstore, library and do some research before you dive into it. It is a complicated industry.

Sign up for an account at Geocities, Freewebs, Angelfire, Tripod, or some other site that offers free web hosting. After you register, you can either use one of their templates (recommended if you have little or no knowledge of HTML, XML, JavaScript, Flash, etc.) or enter in your own code. Good luck!
