It runs along the borders of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota

Technically, it doesn't run THROUGH any states but serves as the border for those from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico...also for the call letters between radio/TV stations, and what is considered east and west.
