Well you can attack this question many ways depending on age group. For those in the elementary age group there is a such thing called PARENTAL ADVISORY. If parents would start paying attention to what their kids are doing then there would be no need for a debate. For the middle school ages they take a lot of influence from their friends and what their friends wear and listen to and all this. If their friend is walking down the hall singing a song by Gangsterlicious called **** this **** that **** you **** me all night long then more than likely they are going home to download off of limewire or buy off of itunes (Go ITunes!!!) Also in middle school kids that have not grown up that fast start to know about some things. I think this age group is the target group for the debate. The things they learn and do in middle school carry over into high school. High schoolers just lets put it this way, by the time a child corrupt from music at an elementary age makes it to high school, the mentality of the music is there with them. What i mean is if a song has the work **** or damn or **** or ***** or mother ****** every 3 seconds they have taken that language in in middle school or elementary and it has carried over. So by high school they are calling their teachers a ***** *** mother ******. Its also the phrases that throw you a little bit. Like from the song richboy - throw some d's "just got a fresh cut now we lookin' for the freaks, or from r kelly - im a flirt or from so many others. The mentality of i have to get money whether i steal it, hustle for it, or what ever so i can buy these clothes, these cars, etc or i have to look this way to be accepted or more cruely something like calling a female a hoe or a *****. (it does happen) I joke when i say it and normally get called one back but if i were to catch my little brother saying it, i would kick his *** all over the damn school. That statement brings up another topic, If you have someone like that that looks up to you, more than likely they are going to model their behavior after yours. So in saying that it is crucial to monitor youth from the start by buying the clean versions of rap/hip hop and as they get older then letting them get into the more explicit music.
Rap is not bad, its just who you are introducing it to that matters.
Hope this helps
Good luck and God Bless!!

Not only are the hip hop artists objectifying women, glorifying violence and portraying ultimate ignorance but they are also setting their people back by representing their culture on the forefront of what kids deem to be cool these days. I mean, what the ---- is wrong with todays youth, they need to be taught that the brainwashing marketing machine is stronger than ever and is geared in a totally inane and subintelligent fashion. To be cool you must listen to what we tell you is cool. To be liked you must like what others like. I can only hope that there are still some youth in numbers that will eventually turn the tides of these absolutely insane tactics that are so visable if you just peer through all the bling and grillz.

Hip hop is not the only catalyst in the equation, you can also thank the likes of MTV, Hollywood, Gossip Rags and Sites and of course ourselves for feeding this monster

Well now not all. I thinkit is corrupting the formative years that doesn't see stuff like this at the everyday. See I grew up seeing humans getting killed at a top price, drug use and income was once and nonetheless is the average within the places I lived in as a little one. Each artist you title Weezy, Jeezy and Ricky Ross all have companies in there residence cities that aid the formative years. It will get me disillusioned to listen to humans say song is doing this that or the opposite while all of it comes right down to mother and father permitting there children to hear the song. I permit my children pay attention to the Weezy Jeezy and Ricky Ross they play at the radio however won't them pay attention the unedited models. I feel it's primary for youngsters to understand whats in the market so while it's there time to be in the market they must recognize what to do. LOL cuz guy I nonetheless are living by means of Biggie's 10 regulations to the sport! And thats truly speak.

It allows the misguided to believe that they too can become a successful adult by putting school on the back burner, doing drugs, treating women as objects and have little regard for the law....if they think they can rap well enough to get a record deal. Although this has worked out for a chosen few, this won't work out for the masses.

well I don't think that all rap is bad. The type of rap that only talks about how they banged their girlfriend is stupid along with the voilence songs. Kids think it's cool to like rap with the very bad words or stupid themes but not all rap is bad.

Sound like it. Almost everybody, in my view, loves that hip-hop rappin' (explicit). I don't understand why, though. All it is is a bunch of monkeys dressed in baggy pants and jerseys with gold chains and bad teeth talking about that time they banged their girlfriends or about drive-bys and that stuff.
Jesus, I can't understand what anybody's saying. It's too fast. I think it is corrupting our youth. My friends almost play-fight each other. And most of them listen to rap. It's just a coincidence, but I'm starting to see more of an uprise in gang violence for some strange reason. Like I said, meer coincidence?
Rap sucks. Listen to metal.
