It matters on the individual person. Maturity and experience levels differ in people.
It would also depend on the time frame that I would be gone and how old the children were to be babysat. A late night return as well as if I had an infant, I would probably go with an older babysitter.
If you are the "12 almost 13 year old", might I suggest:
- get experiance babysitting whenever you can
- try to get into a CPR and first-aide training class this summer
-make a list of people that you have babysat for before; get their permission to use them as personal & professional referrence.
-remember, this is your job. Everything you do in that house should reflect someone who respects the people who have employed her, their children and home.
-Never talk about a family behind their back. Word gets around quickly. If you can't say anything nice....keep it shut.
It is a great job for someone in middle/high school or even college...and rest assured, when word gets around that you are a reliable, professional babysitter - the calls won't stop coming in!
This is probably more than what you wanted, but I hope it helps anyways...GOOD LUCK AND GOD SPEED!

Teasing comes with lifestyles you simply need to notice that they're going right down to one of these low stage to make funn should you. Have ample trust in your self and now not care what they feel. And sure I feel asking out a seventh grader is well. Really in lifestyles what number of couples are the equal age. Usually they're like a pair years aside so opt for it. God Bless!!!

Depending on how mature they are. My niece used to babysit for me when she was 12. She was a great babysitter. I would rather my kids be at home where if they get tired they can go to their beds and they are in their comfort zone not someone elses.

I would. I've got a 7th grader that lives on my street and she's great with the kids. She comes to my house, I don't send them to hers. She's been my kids babysitter for 2 years, and they still love it when she babysits.

It all depends on the maturity of the child. Some 10 year olds are mature enough to baby sit, and some 20 year olds are not mature enough! Trust your motherly instinct!

I think that is a little young myself.I would prefer at least a 16 year old.If I had one that young I would prefer at their house because maybe Mom could help.

I wouldn't but sometimes a thirteen year old person can be mature. It depends if you really can trust this person. Like if it's your neice or nephew, but other than that i wouldn't want them to babysit.

It;s never the age that matters, but the person. If you're mature enough, then fine. Ask someone close to you.

yes, they are often very good at watching. I would want them to stay at their house since it would be new items for the child, and they would be more intrigued at their new surroundings
